I'm pruning more than 200 people from this list next week who haven't opened or clicked on any of my messages in the past 6 months. Not you, since you're reading this right now
This partly has to do with deliverability. The algorithms that dictate whether your email lands in in boxes or in the junk folder know all about open and click through rates. Creepy, but true.
Folks who don't engage with your work and make it less likely that people who do want to read your messages will see them. (You can learn more about the tech bits on the latest episode of the Off the Grid podcast.)
Energetically, I think it also matters. Why continue sending messages to someone who doesn't ever read them?
It's technically to delete folks from a list
If someone hasn't opened a message in 6 months they either don't want to or don't have time for your messages right now. Letting them go helps declutter their inbox and focuses your work on the people who are interested.
You don't need big numbers.
Take care,
Camille
