How To Describe What You Do

an online workshop for Practitioners

How to describe what you do

If you've been in practice for any length of time, you'll know that answering the question, "What do you do?" is not easy! If you're an herbalist, people often think you're in the cannabis industry or that you sell essential oils. As a nutritionist, people may assume you work only with weight loss or that you primarily create recipes and meal plans. In this workshop, we worked together to find the right words to describe your practice so that people without any background can understand what you do and why it matters. We blended a bit of lecture with time for practice and feedback so that you'll leave with a draft "what I do" answer that feels aligned with your actual work.

The live class has ended, but you can still register to get the recording, slides & view the chat 💗

here's what you'll learn:

  • Recognize why a clear "what I do" statement is crucial for your practice.
  • Learn how to identify and highlight the key aspects of your work to emphasize.
  • Develop an interesting and concise statement that's appropriate for various settings.
  • Share your draft statement with peers and receive supportive feedback to refine it further.
  • Feel more confident and prepared to share your practice with clients, colleagues, and in networking situations.

Hi,

I'm Camille Freeman (she/her).

I offer community and continuing education for highly-trained herbalists and nutritionists who want to feel solid and supported in their clinical practices. I've been in practice as a nutritionist and clinical herbalist for 15+ years, with a special focus on menstrual & reproductive health. I'm a registered herbalist with a doctorate in clinical nutrition. I also served as a professor at the Maryland University of Integrative Health for almost 17 years, where I taught physiology, pathophysiology and mindful eating.
