If you've been on this list for a while, you know that I send out a newsletter more or less every Thursday, rain or shine. I usually skip 2-3 weeks per year.
Last week when I sat down to write, I was feeling stuck. None of the topics on my backup idea list felt interesting, I was tired, I didn't have any fresh ideas, and I had less time than usual to get the newsletter done.
I was scrolling through my inbox looking for some bit of inspiration when I finally decided to just write about my email signature.
It was a quick piece to write (here if you missed it). I didn't feel particularly great about it, but I got it done and figured I could write a better newsletter next time.
After it went out last week, I think I heard back from more people than have responded to any other newsletter this year. People seemed to really appreciate the message.
Which goes to show that 1) even if you don't spend a ton of time on something, it can still make a difference to people who read it, and 2) your perception of how good/helpful/meaningful your content is doesn't always match up with reality. You don't really know until you share or post something, so keep going, and don't wait for perfection to hit "send"
Take care,
Camille
