Most mornings, I walk my dog through the campus of Mary Baldwin University. Along the way, there's a fire pit/seating area looking out over the Valley. If you saw this on the college brochure, you might envision sitting here one evening after class with a few friends watching a stunning sunset and listening to crickets chirping.

What you can't see from the first angle is that the fire pit is just slightly above a large parking lot, with stunning views of the campus transportation vans (+ the really nice view above, so at least there's that).

I'm pretty sure this is not the angle that makes it into the promotional materials. If you ever find yourself looking at someone else's practice and thinking that they're doing everything right and wishing you could be more like them, just remember that you're only seeing one perspective - a carefully curated brochure view.
