The Herbal Clinician’s Apothecary: Thoughts, Tips, and Regulations Primer

Are you a budding herbal clinician who currently dispenses or hopes to dispense and blend herbal remedies for your clients? While there are many advantages to stocking and making your own blends for clients, there are also a variety of pitfalls and challenges. Some of these apply to practice ethics and your own personal capacity to “do it all,” while others are regulatory in nature. It’s helpful to get a sense of the big picture to decide what will actually work best for you and your clients, to understand FDA dietary supplement GMPs and other potentially applicable regs, as well as red flags to avoid that could get you in trouble.

Clinical herbalist Maria Noel Groves will take a practical approach to GMPs and other apothecary challenges and solutions as they apply to small-scale clinical herbalists providing remedies to their clients. (Folks with small-scale herbal products businesses who are unfamiliar with the regulations will also find this primer useful, but your legal ramifications for compliance are greater, and you’ll need to seek further education to get into the details for your business.) Lengthy, detailed class notes with links to free and affordable resources for further learning will be included with your class registration.
