October 1, 2014

It’s that time of year again! October Unprocessed is upon us. For those of you who don’t know this is a flexible challenge to reduce or eliminate processed foods for the month. It’s trickier than you may think, even for someone who eats a pretty clean diet. (If you’re new to unprocessed eating, you can try just giving up a few things. It’s not all or nothing!) Here’s my Week 1 Menu, which starts today.

This year my October Unprocessed goals are:

  • Try three new recipes each week
  • Learn to make crackers that taste good
  • Master the kale chip
  • Expand our breakfast choices a bit

My three new recipes this week are the chicken with cherries and kale, the broccoli-stuffed portabello mushrooms and the roasted carrot, turnip and red lentil soup. Wish me luck!
